Gothic Horror Reflection

This class was planned and taught really well and made me enjoy writing stories, poems, character sketches, and even learning how to do write all of them. I found that when we went into detail about certain types of writings I got better ideas on what to write. When we read short stories before we wrote our own stories, I found it easier to write, making if fun because it took away some of the frustration.

When learning about poetry we were taught about all types of poems from rhyming to free verse, even some I have never heard before. We were given a sheet explaining all the poems we were going to do and the beginning of the year and was told to try doing them ourselves before we got to them. I was encouraged to try my hand at poetry and found something out. I really am bad at it, but I don’t care it was really fun and I enjoyed it a lot.

My favorite type of writing we learned was the short stories because we learned how to design character and places in our stories to make them more believable and interesting. Once again my class was given a sheet that explain all the things needed to have in a character sketch to make them seen more lifelike instead of a perfect person with no personality in our stories. These things we learned in this time helped me think of more interesting ideas for stories, and helped me look at other working with more of an appreciating eye. I can understand and enjoy books more because I understand how much time and effort people put into stories.

This class was awesome and fun. I hope I can continue to write and learn to make my writings more interesting and fun, like I did in this class.

Gothic Horror Reflection

Red meaning passion, black meaning death, to wine meaning romance. I loved learning about how these fit into a Gothic Horror story, and how that this type of story isn’t really a horror movie we see today. At first Horror Story meant a suspenseful story that kept you on the edge of your seat without shows blood and guts.

Gothic Horror is a mixture between romance and suspense, the way they write this type of story makes them really mysterious and magical without wands and brooms.

Really fun to write and try to have small meanings in objects in the story that explain things that aren’t explained verbally

Short Story Reflection

Short stories are really fun to write, you can do almost anything in a short time it takes to write it down. These stories aren’t full books where they take years to complete, but a weekend to write.

Even if they are great to write they are hard as well. I find it really hard not to ramble when writing a story so is ends up pages longer then it is suppose to be and that defeats the purpose of a short story.

I learned how to design characters and places and write facts into a story so you learn about them as you read. It makes is shorter and is almost like your spending time with the character it’s self instead of reading about them in a book.

Even though I find it really hard to write these kind of stories I love the challenge of trying to find everything and fitting it into a small four page story that grabs the readers attention.

I really like poetry because it expresses who we are and our beliefs of the world around us. Poetry expresses our and other peoples feeling, in a few short lines we can see some part of the author that they want to express to us. Not everyone gets the same thing as what I get out of a poem and I love to see others points of view on a subject no if is disagrees with mine I love to listen and am always open to others idea of things.

Poetry shows to others our feeling and beliefs on life and its mysteries. A poem written by someone might have an entirely different meaning then what I got out of it. Some poems can give you courage, strength, faith, sympathy, and even make you laugh until you cry.

Something I really dislike about some poetry is that they make it hard to understand. They use beautiful words it’s just really hard to comprehend a lot of times
